Famous for his quote "Is it a flag or is it a painting?" regarding Jasper Johns' infamous painting “Flag” – Solomon was the most outspoken supporter of “modern” art – curating Oldenburg, Johns and Diebenkorn frequently in exhibitions worldwide. Current owner purchased it in Minneapolis in the 1960s.
